Here's an exerpt of Enemies Rising:
Prologue
Trouble Brewing
Kiri took a single step out of the dead forest and cringed. The blades of grass that covered the healthy ground felt horrible against her paws. She was better suited for the soft, bare earth of the dead forest, but she would have to deal with what was beyond that.
It had been days sense she finally left the dead forest, and now she was on a trail after Red, her sworn enemy. Kiri would do anything to kill her as revenge for her own death.
She blinked slowly, taking another couple steps to stand in the shade of some tall trees with bright green leaves and dark brown bark. She liked the black bareness of the trees in the dead forest better, but again that didn't matter. The sunlight glinted in her eyes, which were blood red with snake-like pupils. Her normally beautiful grey fur covered in black flecks was now as dark as the night. It was the sign that darkness boiled just underneath her rotten skin, the only thing that was keeping her alive. She was a powerful ally of the darkness and the Dark Realm and it would do anything to keep her alive so she could get her revenge. The shadows that bowed before her now lived inside of her, acting as her soul. She had no feelings and couldn't feel pain, which was perfectly fine with her. She didn't want any petty feelings getting in her way.
Smirking, she followed the invisible trail that would lead her straight to Red. It was faint, just
barely there, but it was her scent all right. Thank goodness she hadn't lost her sense of smell; her hearing had slightly went away, a consequence of her death, but her excellent sense of smell had made up for that.
Now running at full speed, Kiri's large black paws crushing any undergrowth that got in her way, Kiri headed south, to the far in of the island, where Shriker's pathetic pack was. She knew that Red wasn't there, though. She could feel it, like an instinct. No, she would find Red and Shatterbreeze beyond Shriker's pack, where they would be vulnerable to attack. Then she would have the pleasure of eventually killing both of them...
She wouldn't kill them immediately, though. She would wait until the right moment, the perfect
moment to strike. She chuckled darkly to herself. She had been smart to keep her power she had gained from the shadows a secret. If Red had known she would have been on her guard.
Kiri would inflict so much internal pain that Red wouldn't know what to do, that she would go insane. Then Kiri would strike. She knew exactly what she was planning to do...

"This book is the perfect sequel to Spirits of Peridicia. It is just as perfect as the first one! I think the author 'Sami Beasley' is a true talent and the perfect artist, author, and friend."

"A story that hooked me from the very beginning. I can't put it down and I constantly ask for updates. One of, no, THE best book I've ever read. Sami is an amazing author as well as an amazing friend, and I hope she continues to write books as captivating and gripping as her Peridicia series. Love the author. Love the book. Great job, Smee!!"

"'Enemies Rising' is the most amazing book ever! You will read it over and over, taking in all of the awesomeness. Then, you'll want more and beg on your knees at her feet, and she's so nice that she'll give in and write more just to make you stop bugging her. Great book!"
~ Sammy Ross, author of The River
